Patricia Jean [Cutt] Bennett

Pat Bennett of Ionia, NY passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026. She was 91.

Daughter of Joseph and Lois [Armstrong] Cutt, Pat was born in Honeoye Falls, NY, just miles from where she lived the rest of her life near Ionia, NY.  Her husband of 71 years, Ronald Ray Bennett [Ron], predeceased her in February 2025. She is survived by her four children – Karen Bennett Cleveland of Marietta, GA, Bradley (Mary) Bennett of Victor, NY, Drs. Marla (Kamal) Jabbour of Pompey, NY, and Dina Bennett-Peck of Hammondsport, NY. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, a brother Sidney [Linda] Cutt of Victor, NY and extended family members.

Pat served as a 4-H leader and Sunday School teacher. She donated generously to the Ionia Fire Department carnival cake walks and Ionia United Methodist Church bake sales and Strawberry & Raspberry Socials. The family also fostered three infants, Bruce, Mary and Marilee. During the Vietnam Conflict, Pat coordinated care packages sent to soldiers via Operation Morale. In addition to being the family manager while her husband worked 90-hour work weeks, Pat had several outside the home jobs including delivering eggs for Saxby’s Farms and telling at a Pittsford bank drive-thru. She returned to school in the 1970s to earn an associate’s degree from CCFL, now known as Finger Lakes Community College.

The Bennett family raised and sold sheep and wool and later added U-Pick strawberry and raspberry operations and a roadside produce stand. Later, she and Ron owned and managed multiple rental homes in Plant City, FL where they spent winters enjoying sunshine and snowbird lives.

Pat’s lifelong passion was sewing.  She made all her own clothing, her children’s special occasion clothes, Barbie clothes, window treatments, and slipcovers. She knitted mittens, hats, and Intarsia sweaters, and could crochet anything. Then she discovered quilting! Pat had a great eye for color and attention to detail. She started with full sized quilts which she entered into the Kutztown Quilt Festival multiple times, winning ribbons for her detailed work. Eventually her quilt sizes became smaller until she was specializing in small (10” x 10”) quilt tops. She designed many of her own patterns and for many, many years, she made and sold multiple quilt tops per week on eBay as mini_quilt_lady, shipping them to customers around the world.

Pat was an avid collector. She loved going to the East Avon, NY and Plant City, FL flea markets, where she acquired antique furniture, salt dips, glass pharmacy cups, church cookbooks, buttons, candy containers, cut glass and View Masters. And, of course, she accumulated quite a fabric stash that has since been donated to various quilt clubs to make Quilts of Honor for veterans.

Pat was a fan of NASCAR, bowling, golf — and especially American football. Her loyalty shifted among the Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears and most recently the Buffalo Bills. She was a valued addition to the Buffalo Bills Fan Club at Avon Nursing Home and left this world with the team in a 3-0 winning streak. GO Bills!

Per her wishes, there were no public services. Her remains were cremated and await distribution with Ron’s on the pine tree hill.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Pat’s name to the Ionia Fire Department.
