Milagros “Millie” Maldonado Diaz, a devoted mother, grandmother, and woman of deep faith, passed peacefully on September 30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and joy.

She was born on November 26, 1933, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Luis Concepcion; her son, Luis Concepcion Maldonado; and her grandson, Ricardo Cruz Concepcion.

Milagros is survived by her loving daughters, Milagros Concepcion (Victor) and Ana Maria Concepcion. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Roberto Cruz Concepcion (Virginia), Luis Cruz Concepcion (Irmarie), Emily Leubner (Joshua), and Eliot Leubner (Alyssa). Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Emma Cruz Caceres, Julian Trenkamp, and Ryenn Trenkamp.

Raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Milagros built her life and raised her family with remarkable strength and determination, especially after becoming a widow at a young age. Her resilience and unwavering love shaped the generations that followed.

At the age of 87, she moved to New York, where she resided at St. John’s Home. There, she was surrounded by an extraordinary team of caregivers who loved her and cared for her with compassion and dedication.

Milagros had a deep love for her family and for her homeland of Puerto Rico. The beach was her happy place, a source of peace and joy throughout her life. She lived with enthusiasm and brought laughter and warmth to every room she entered. Her faith was her foundation, and Psalm 23 held a special place in her heart, offering her comfort and strength.

She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her deep devotion to family, and the joy she brought to all who knew her. May she rest in power.

Donations in her honor may be made to St. John’s Home, 150 Highland Drive, Rochester, NY, 14620.

In the words of her favorite scripture, Psalm 23: “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing…Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
