George E. Sanford II passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on March 4, 2021 at age 73. Survived by his loving wife of 39 years Charlotte; children Julia (Matt), Mary (Terry), Kassy (Tom), Jerry (Lisa); sisters Kay (Harry), Beverly; grandchildren Chris, Elijah, Wyatt, Ashley, Delaney, Kinley; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
George was a proud and decorated US Air Force veteran. He was a retired Chief Master Sgt. (E9) and worked for 32 years in Civil Service as a Communication Management Specialist.
After retiring, George worked as a substitute teacher in Ohio and then Charles Finney High School in Penfield, NY. He also loved coaching both football and basketball at Finney. He also worked at Lowes in Henrietta.
George was an active member of the United Methodist Church. He served as the District President of the United Methodist Men for Genesee Valley.
George positively impacted many lives, and especially the youth in every community where he and Charlotte lived. George loved and was loved by all he came into contact with. He never met a stranger.
A Celebration of Life will be held for family, friends, and all whose lives he touched on April 3 from 2-4pm at the Wesley United Methodist Church at 2009 Dewey Ave in Rochester, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Veterans Outreach Center or the Vietnam Veterans of America in his memory.
