Joan Mary Crowley (Burke) of Victor, NY entered eternal rest on March 12, 2021 at the age of 86. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Joan is predeceased by her parents Lewis and Marie Burke, sisters Arlene Ryan and Shirley Nock, brother James Burke, sisters-in-law Monica Milliman and M. Eileen Cannan, and daughter-in-law Mary Linn Crowley. Joan is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years Hugh, four loving children; Thomas Crowley, Colleen Flye (Dennis), Kathleen “Kitty” Smith (Lorenzy) and Anne Margaret (Sean) McCombs, Five grandchildren; Timothy Flye (Shannon), Kelly Jo Gursslin (Adam), Jennifer York (Tom), Bradley Everdyke and Katie McCombs (Jaycia Brunson), Six great-grandchildren; Brynn and Quinn Flye, Luke, Lilly and Hazel Gursslin, and Charlotte York, brother-in-law Francis Crowley (Sally), sister Sandy (Gary) Bennett, many nieces and nephews from both the Burke and Crowley families, and dearest friend Mary Ann Lavonas. Joan was a devout Catholic who loved her family, home, sewing, reading, baking her famous chocolate cake, word searches and watching Chris Cuomo weeknights on CNN. After raising her four children, she returned to work at Gananda Central School. She greatly enjoyed the people and friends she met there. Joan always had a warm welcome and smile for everyone she met. She was quick to offer a kind word and share her generous spirit with friends and stranger alike. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Joan’s family wishes to thank Ontario-Yates Hospice, specifically Rebecca Van Hanegen, for her compassionate support of Joan as she made her journey to eternal peace.
Friends and family are invited to call at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services of Victor, Route 96, Victor NY from 4-7 PM on Monday, March 15th. In adherence with COVID guidelines, CLICK HERE to sign up for a time slot for calling hours. Joan’s funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, March 16th at 11:00 AM at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Macedon, NY, interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Victor, NY.
