Audrey Andrus (Boerman)
Audrey Boerman Andrus passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 7 at the age of 74. She is at rest now after a long and challenging illness. Audrey lovingly cared for her husband Dick of 44 years up until his death in January of 2020.
Audrey was born in Marion, New York on March 26, 1947 to Cornelius Boerman and Delia Van Hoover Boerman. She graduated with the class of 1965 from Marion High School and went on to receive her RN from Monroe Community College. After a brief period at Strong Memorial Hospital, she was employed by St. John’s Home for over 35 years. She retired holding the position of nurse manager.
Audrey had an infectious giggle and a great sense of humor. She loved her little dog, Lucy and if you called Audrey, you often got the opportunity to talk to Lucy as well! She enjoyed lunching out regularly with nursing friends from St John’s.
Audrey was an amazing quilter and shared her passion with a fun group of quilting friends. She was a member of the Genesee Valley Quilt Club and participated in their shows held at RIT. Audrey was active in the local organization, FLACE, sewing lap robes for veterans. She and Dick were members of the American Legion in Henrietta as well. They participated in events such as sending veterans on honor flights to Washington D.C.. Audrey would present lap robes and Dick served as a veteran in the color guard.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Richard. She is survived by family and friends who will miss her dearly.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021 at 11am. The location is Maplewood Cemetery at 150 Middle Road in Henrietta, New York.
