After a long, debilitating illness, Robert Laiosa passed away on March 8, 2021.

Born in Rochester, New York to Charles and Frances Laiosa on October 16, 1950, he graduated from the University of Buffalo, married, and had one daughter. He had a 30-year career with General Electric, which took the family to Boston, Miami, Tampa, Atlanta, and finally back to Tampa. He spent 10 years in Louisville, Kentucky, where he finished his career, and retired to Rochester to be near his mother and sister. Over the years, he studied karate, took up diving and sailing, and played guitar. He passed on his love of cars and nature to his daughter, who fondly remembers going with him to the St. Petersburg Grand Prix and spending Sunday afternoons watching Jacques Cousteau or wandering around nature trails. His Thanksgiving hunting trip with his brother-in-law and nephews was always the highlight of his year.

He is survived by his daughter Andrea Laiosa, his brother David Laiosa, his sister Jane Hodges, and his nephews James Hodges, Joseph Hodges, Michael Laiosa, Daniel Laiosa, and Matthew Laiosa.

A private memorial will be held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Bob’s name to The Cousteau Society.
