Jean Kavanagh (Markert)

Henrietta – Quietly, at the age of 88 she passed away on May 22, 2021. Predeceased by her first husband William F. Markert. Survived by her husband Daniel Kavanagh; daughters Barbara (Peter) Scheidt, Diane (James) McBride, Pamela Wilson and Nancy (Timothy) Mastin; son George (Wanda) Markert; brother Richard Rice of California; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and countless dear friends including her best friend, Dotti Yauch. Jean was committed to her church and her Christian faith. Having served as the church secretary for over 30 years, she remained an active parishioner until she became housebound because of her illness. Her strength and commitment to family shown through while raising her children as a single parent after the passing of her husband William in 1973. In 1987, Jean found love again and married Daniel Kavanagh. Her children are thankful for that companionship and that Daniel became a part of all our lives. She was an avid reader and could often be found sitting on her bench under a shade tree in the summer, reading a new novel. She loved to listen to music and could be found smiling on the dance floor with Daniel at every wedding or party they attended. Later in life she enjoyed traveling. Visiting destinations such as Ireland or Alaska, she especially enjoyed the natural wonders of God’s Earth.
