Oliver B. Gray

On Thursday, May 20, 2021, Oliver Bodine (Pete) Gray, a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, passed away and entered his eternal home at the age of 85.
Peter was born on October 3, 1935, in Rochester, NY to George and Janeth Gray. He received his Fine Art Degree from Rochester Institute of Technology following his active duty in the Army as a Paratrooper and member of the Drum and Bugle Corps. On November 2nd, 1963, he married Jane (Ellen) Fisher Gray and they raised a son, Eric, and a daughter, Suzanne, together in Victor, NY.

Pete enjoyed sharing his faith in Christ and was passionate about his art and the care of the beautiful nature surrounding their home of 53 years. His art was featured in the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle Newspaper for 20 years where he was on staff, as well as in the Memorial Art Gallery and summer artist venues around the Finger Lakes Region. His love for his children, grandchildren, friends, and anyone who crossed his path, was seen in his desire to see them know God as he did.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Jane in 2020. He is survived by his son and family, Eric and Susan Gray, and his daughter and family, Suzanne and Jonathan Rioch. He has 10 grandchildren – Shanon, Benjamin, Andrew, Sara, David, Kaci, Natalie, Jonathan, Adam and Charles. Pete’s brother and family, Tim and Laurie Gray, live in the Rochester area along with their children and grandchildren.

A Memorial Service for both Pete and Jane will be held on Saturday, September 4, at 3 PM at LeTourneau Christian Center on beautiful Canandaigua Lake where Jane grew up and Pete and Jane enjoyed boating and water skiing together.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Billy Graham Association (www.billygraham.org) which was instrumental to our father’s spiritual beginning.

“A life lived for Christ is the best inheritance we can leave our children.”
