“Bill”
Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at age 91. He is survived by his loving wife, Muriel; his children, Wendy VanVoorhis, Mark (Nan) Dischinger, Todd (Pam) Dischinger, Carol Witter, Barry Dischinger, Daniel (Lynn) Dischinger, Brenda Ghostlaw; 14 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 2 great- great grandchildren; many, many friends.
Dr. Dischinger served in the United States Navy in a medical unit during the Korean Conflict from 1948-1952. Each member of his unit aboard one of the medical ships he was stationed, was awarded a Special Accommodation Medal. After his professional career, “Bill” loved to read, golf and do crossword puzzles. He also was very involved with many volunteer groups; church leadership, prison ministry at Attica State Prison, Rotary, mentorship program with high school students, and elementary student reading programs. Bill spent many winters in sunny Bradenton, Florida with his wife, Muriel.
A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, July 3 at 12 o’clock at Pinnacle Lutheran Church, 250 Pinnacle Road, Rochester, NY 14623. Gifts in his memory may be directed to a charity of your choice.
