Wood Family; My sincere condolences about Fritz.. I knew him since we were small kids. And then RPD Mounted Patrol. I was in Rochester 3weeks before he passed and tried to contact him and a few other MHS friends. Last time we spoke was about 5 or so weeks ago on facebook messenger. He will be sorely missed by me. I'm sorry I couldn't attend the services. I hope my flower arrangement and my donations in his name will help. God Bless the Wood Family. Sincerly Darren L. Perreault MHS 73 Punta Gorda,FL

My deepest sympathy to Dan's family. Fritz and I went through the academy and supervisor's school together. We became friends from the moment we met. His smile and laughter was contagious. Our paths crossed many times during our careers. He will be truly missed. May his memory be eternal.

We don't always get to meet great men in life. Dan Woods is/was one of the greatest. I remember him taking our daughters on the horses at him and Lisa's house. They were thrilled. Dan was a great officer, man and individual. God has acquired an avenging angel. No greater one can be found. Be at peace Dan we will miss your light / energy.

I want to the Woods Famiy, sincere condolences for you loss,. Dan and I first met at Monroe Community College 9/4/77, the first day of the Rochester Police Department. From the first time I met Dan we became friends and as the years went by, we became closer friends. I appreciated Dan during the challenging Police Academy who kept me focused and to not quit. Dan and I always joked but we respected each other. I shall miss Dan and I pray that the Woods Family get strength from God to deal with this challenging time. RIP Dan, my Brother

My deepest condolences to Lisa and the kids. He encouraged me to come to mounted and was a great boss. Mostly though he valued family, which was why he went to RIT. Although we lost touch after he left the unit, I will always remember him fondly. Thoughts and prayers

Danny was a great platoon partner, a hard worker who never lost his sense of humor. We were never short of laughter with him. Yet we knew what a great cop he was. As the Sgt. in the Mounted Patrol he was a top notch street boss and tactician. His leadership had the mounted unit help us control many difficult crowd situations. RIP Rooster, you will be missed by many. Rest assured your legend will live on.

Was my sergeant on midnights in downtown section. Many thanks for letting us hang out in the break room when we were tired and warning us if the lieutenant was around. A true stand up guy

I want to send my deepest sympathy to Woody's family. We worked together for many year at the RPD, and he was a great cop, but more important, a great human being. He had a way of making a serious situation more bearable, as he would come up with a joke or something funny, always keeping it in a quiet tone not to upset some people, but the cops were laughing inside trying to be composed. RIP my dear brother, and God Bless you and your family.
