Saturday, October 16, 2021. Predeceased by parents, William and Florence (Walsh) O’Keefe; brother, William O’Keefe; sister, Margaret Williamson; son-in-law, Brian Jones; and his wife of 62 years, Virginia (Toal) O’Keefe. Survived by his sister, Catherine Jannett; eight children, Anne (Doug) LaClair, Maureen (Ralph) Pennino, Kathy (Rob) Byers, William O’Keefe, Mary (Brian) Moon, Elise O’Keefe, Amy O’Keefe and Margaret O’Keefe; fifteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was a 1944 graduate of East High School, a WWII veteran, and a graduate of the University of Rochester. He and Virginia raised their children in West Irondequoit and summered in Thousand Island Park, NY. He worked as an industrial salesman and retired from Lee Spring Co. In retirement, Joseph sprung into volunteerism for Intervol. Outside of his family and career, Joe had a passion for bread making, fishing, reading, and telling corny jokes. He had a quick wit, a wealth of knowledge and always tried to find a familiar connection with everyone he met.
A Mass celebrating Joe’s life will begin WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2021 at 11 am at St. Catherine of Sienna Church, Mendon [CLICK FOR MAP]. NOTE: MASKS ARE REQUIRED REGARDLESS OF VACINATION STATUS.
