On Wednesday, November 3, 2021, Rita L. Berry, loving mother and grandmother, passed away due to complications of type II diabetes at the age of 62.
Survived by her son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, mother, brother, sister-in-law, niece, nephew. Predeceased by her father.
For nearly 35 years, Rita worked as a nurse’s aide caring for the elderly and others; she was honored to care for them and relished many dear memories of the people she cared for. We will remember Rita for her thoughtfulness, kindness, and selflessness. Outside of work, Rita preferred solitariness and quietness rather than the hustle and bustle lifestyle. We will remember the stories she told of spending time and planning activities with her mother. We will especially remember how much she enjoyed cross-stitching as we all probably have a towel, a bib, or an embroidered item that she made for us. Rita was also a ravenous reader, especially mystery books. But most of all, we won’t forget her smile and the way she made us laugh. Rita recently retired, and she told everyone how eager she was to spend more time with her only granddaughter. Fortunately, in the past few weeks, we were able to spend extra time with Rita, which we will heartfully remember.
Rita’s Funeral Mass will be held at St. Marianne Cope Parish at Guardian Angel’s Church (2061 East Henrietta Rd.) 11am Tuesday, November 16, 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sisters of Saint Joseph Motherhouse of Rochester (WEBSITE) or to the American Diabetes Association (WEBSITE)
