Brighton – Sally J. Fellows, 74, native of Rochester, NY and longtime resident of Brighton, NY passed away peacefully in the company of her loving family. She spent her life as a devoted and loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother “Mocca”, great-grandmother, cousin and friend. She will be sorely missed and leaves a void that will never be filled.
Sally was predeceased by her husband, George Fellows in 2018; her mother, Mary Hine in 1990; her brother, Ronald Hine in 2001, her father, Ralph Hine in 1974, and very recently her oldest brother Gerald “Jerry” Hine of Phoenix, AZ. She leaves behind her younger brothers, Richard Hine (Tracey) of Marysville, WA and William “Bill” Hine of Lima, NY.
Sally will be forever loved by her daughters, April Genrich (Greg) of Brighton, NY, Stacey Radziewicz (James) of Nottingham, NH and her stepson Hal Fellows (Christine) of Livonia, NY. She will eternally be treasured by her grandchildren, Shawn Fellows (Michalena), Theresa Wright (Shawn), Sarah Fellows, Christopher Genrich, Alicia Cary (Jake), Mary Genrich, Ashley Genrich, as well as three great-grandchildren Hailey Fellows, Adeline Fellows, Emilia Fellows and three more on the way due in December, January and March including a baby boy to carry on the Fellows family name. She had many nieces, nephews and great nieces living in the Syracuse area, Arizona and Washington states. She will be especially missed by her childhood friend, Nancy (Smith) Miller of San Antonio, TX.
Sally was born in Rochester, NY the middle child of five and the only girl. She grew up in various areas of Rochester, Avon and short stint in Florida. She graduated East High School in 1965. She held various positions including Farrell, a law firm and Clover Lanes. It was at Farrell where she met the love of her life, George Fellows. They were married April 15,1972 then settled in Brighton, NY and it is where she lived till her passing.
She devoted the greater portion of her life to her family as a stay at home mom. She was a girl scout troop leader, attended a multitude of games, matches, recitals, plays, and musical performances over the years. As time went on, she did the same for her grandchildren as she did for her children always striving to be a constant presence in their lives.
Our home and family homes are all covered with one or more stunning pieces from her many craft projects including beautiful cross stitch works. At holiday gatherings, she enjoyed playing rounds of Euchre and Yahtzee games till way into the night. She learned to play the piano focusing on popular music and show tunes. She loved going dinner rather than cooking but, never missed a beat when it came to baking cookies. She was a diligent saver using coupons and shopping around. She took great pleasure and was excited to find just the right present or finding that needed item as well as to make the package it came in sparkle and shine. We marveled at the care and attention she took to the household finances making sure we prepared for a bright future.
In her later years, she frequented area estate sales and was a hawk at finding treasures for others. She also designed and created stunning, personalized greeting cards. Anyone who was special enough to receive one, knows that they were made with love. These cards are truly special and even years later, people still have them and show them off. She always added that extra detail or bling to any special project, including creating awe inspiring posters.
Lastly, she was a devoted caregiver to her husband and our dad, George, as he battled a chronic illness and the very same illness she died from. With her support and devotion, George lived well beyond what anyone would have expected. For that, we are eternally grateful and will forever treasure that time.
