Lucille Peterson passed peacefully and comfortably on February 23, 2022 at age 88.

She was predeceased by her parents Carl and Anna Ehmke; brothers: Maynard, Melvin and Martin; sisters, Loretta and Luella; and niece, Lanna. Survived by her husband of 61 years, Nels; their daughter, Christine (Mitch) Chinn and grandchildren, Ryan and Megan.

Lucille was born in the small rural community of Waltham, Minnesota.  She attended a one-room school house until she went to Austin, MN, for high school.  After that, she graduated from beauty school and took her first job as a hair dresser in International Falls, MN.  To be closer to her family in Waltham, she move back downstate to Rochester, MN, where she opened her own beauty shop.  After marrying Nels Peterson on April 17th, 1960, she sold her beauty shop and moved to Waukeegan, IL.  Eventually she settled in Rochester, NY, for the last several decades, following Nels in his retail career.  During the next 30 years she worked as a beautician at St. John’s Nursing Home, where she used her talents to beautify her clients, putting a smile on their faces.  Lucille was a devoted, selfless, and caring wife, mother, and grandmother, regularly placing the needs of others before her own.
