Katrina Lynell (Hunt) Rivera was born on January 4, 1975, in Rochester, NY and was raised in a loving, Christian home as the seventh child of the late Ruby Nell Hunt and Cleveland Hunt, Sr.
Katrina matriculated through the Rochester public school system and graduated from Franklin High School in June 1993. While in high school, Katrina met the love of her life, Carlos Rivera, Sr. whom she affectionally called Omar. The couple wed in holy matrimony on June 21, 1997, and from their union, three beautiful children were born: Carlos Omar, II, Monet Lynella, and Christian Miguel Dé Carlos.
Katrina and Carlos were more than just husband and wife, they were best friends and life partners brought together by God Himself. They both believed in working hard to provide a better life for their family, and with her husband’s support, Katrina went back to school to obtain her nursing degree and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 2009.
After obtaining her nursing license, Katrina worked for 12 years at the St. John’s Nursing Home as an LPN. When Katrina wasn’t at work, she took care of her husband and children and made their house a loving home. Katrina often sacrificed and went above and beyond to make sure her children had fond memories of their childhood by hosting large family gatherings for every major holiday.
In addition to raising her own children, Katrina became a surrogate mother to her nephew, the late DeMarkus Hunt and cared for him on a daily basis while he was hospitalized for months after a liver transplant.
By her life and witness, Katrina made it clear that she loved two things with all of her heart: her family and the Lord Jesus Christ. Katrina and Carlos served the Lord faithfully as long-standing members of The Father’s House in Gates, NY.
Katrina Rivera went home to be with the Lord suddenly and unexpectedly on March 15, 2022, and leaves to cherish her memory, her husband: Carlos Rivera, Sr; their children: Carlos, II, Monet, and Christian; her father: Cleveland (Lilly) Hunt, Sr.; her siblings: Anthony (Claudia) Hunt, Sr., Pamela Hunt Crumpler, Ezekiel Terrell Hunt and Tammy Hunt; two special cousins: Robert Malloy, Jr., and Regina Gail Malloy; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Katrina is preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Nell Hunt; her brother, Cleveland Hunt, Jr.; and her sister, Kimberly Yvette Hunt.
