Hans Ling (Ling Guay)

Hans Ling (Ling Guay) passed away on June 20, 2022, at the age of 84, surrounded by loved ones.

Hans was born 1938 in Guilin, China, to Ling Shi Yan & Lin Xiao Ching. At age 26, Hans moved to the U.S. to study chemistry at University of Delaware -training that led to a lifelong career at Kodak, where he invented some of the most widely used film in color photography. In 1971, Hans met Jane (Chang Yu Chen), and together they had two children, Nancy and Sam. In his free time, Hans loved spending time with his family, tending to his garden, and traveling.

Battling leukemia his last few years, Hans showed us all how to approach life’s final chapter with grace and determination. Hans is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Jane Ling, his two children and their spouses, Nancy and Henry Chou, Sam and Emma Ling, and his five grandchildren, Nicholas Chou, Tyler Chou, Emmy Ling, Maya Ling and Everett Ling.

A visitation memorial will be held at Miller Funeral Home (3325 S Winton Rd, Rochester, NY 14623) for friends to say their farewells on Friday, June 24, 2022, between 4:00-6:00 PM.
