William R. Jones, 84, of Rochester, NY, passed away on August 18th, after battling kidney disease and cancer.
“Bill” was born on November 7th, 1937, to Wynne and Rose Jones, in Rochester. After graduation from Charlotte High School, he served two years in the U.S. Army, mostly in Germany. Following his military service, Mr. Jones worked for 34 years for the Brighton Central School District. He oversaw materials acquisitions, and at times also drove a school bus.
A lifelong resident of Rochester and Brighton, NY, William was a parishioner of St. Anne Church for 64 years. He and many members of his family sang in the church choir. He also enjoyed time in New York’s Thousand Islands, and in Florida. Bill loved to gather with family and friends. Over the years he traveled, enjoyed boating and fishing, gardening, and playing cards.
Surviving Mr. Jones is his sister, Shirley A. Johnson, and many nieces and nephews, and their subsequent generations. Mr. Jones is predeceased by his parents (Wynne Sr. and Rose), and nine siblings (Lorraine, Joseph, Augustus, Wynne Jr., Earl, Raymond, Dolores, Rose, and Janet.
Friends and family may call THURSDAY August 25, 2022 from 4-7 at Miller Funeral and Cremation Service, Inc. (3325 Winton Rd. S) Bill’s Funeral Mass will be held 10 AM FRIDAY August 26, 2022, in St. Anne Church (1600 Mt. Hope Ave.). Interment White Haven Memorial Park.
