Sandra Frances Zimmer
Honeoye Falls – Sandy passed away in Hospice at Rochester General Hospital on August 18, 2022 at the age of 79 after a 26 year battle with metastatic breast cancer. She is survived by her loving husband, Patrick Lane.
She was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Mildred Zimmer. Sandy was also predeceased by her full siblings Carol, Shirley, Louis, Kenneth and David and half siblings Marcella, Mary, Kaiser, Margaret, June, Joseph, George, Harold, John, Robert, Jack and Robert.
She is survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and very good friends.
Sandy was benefits administrator of the Rochester Labors’ Retirement and Health Plans and then administrator of the Rochester Sheet Metal Workers Retirement and Health Plans. In 1982 she started Northeast Benefit Services, Inc. with her friend and partner Jean Smith. They administered retirement plans for private employers. Sandy was president of the corporation until cancer forced her retirement some time ago. She really enjoyed advising and helping the beneficiaries of those plans.
Sandy also loved to entertain guests and was a wonderful cook. She planted and enjoyed her beautiful and extensive flower gardens. She comforted and helped many other cancer patients and friends. She was loved by many friends and was devoted to Spiritus Christi Church.
She fought her metastatic breast cancer for 26 years with a willingness to do thorough research, a sharp analytic mind and some good and cooperative doctors and other health professionals.
We will celebrate her life at Mass at Spiritus Christi Church on September 10th at 10 AM and a reception will follow in Helloc Hall, which is adjacent to the Church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Grace of God Recovery House, 120 Franklin St. Rochester, NY 14604. For more information, click here
