Sr. Ruth of the Holy Family Bittner, O.C.D.

Pittsford – Sister Ruth of the Holy Family entered into eternal rest with the Lord on November 9, 2022 at the age of 101. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Parmelia Bittner and seven siblings. She is survived by her sister, Jane Fountain; several nieces and nephews; and her Sisters at the Carmelite Monastery.

Sister Ruth entered Carmel on August 13, 1942, she received the Habit on September 4, 1943 and made her First Profession on September 5, 1944 and Solemn Profession on March 5, 1948.

Sister will lie in state in the Chapel at the Carmelite Monastery, 1931 W. Jefferson Rd. on Friday, November 11th from 4PM-7PM. Sister’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Chapel of the Monastery on Saturday, November 12th 8AM. Most Reverend Salvatore R. Matano will officiate. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
