Theresa, You have my sincere condolences!

Posted by John Rainey on January 23, 2022

Dear Theresa and Yvette and family, I have no doubt you understand how blessed you were to have such an awesome lady as Hilliary as your mom, sister, auntie and friend. I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Hilliary when she lead the Print and Mail Services Department at RIT. Since my job entailed a lot of print and mail work, we got to be friends and colleagues as we shared stories about work and our families. My son’s first job at RIT was driving a mail truck the summer before he was even a student there. He too, thought the world of Hilliary. She was always taking care of her family at home and at work; cooking, nurturing, encouraging and sometimes strongly encouraging all to do and be their best. She was God’s special helper on earth! It worried me when I lost touch with her a while after she retired and then I heard that she had moved to Florida to be with her daughter. I’m so happy to know she was cared for the way she cared for others. Serendipity in all of this is that, if I hadn’t come here to read the obituary of another friend that recently passed, I wouldn’t have known that Dear Hillary was no longer with us. She is with her Lord and Savior as he welcomed her home into his loving arms...Hilliary was a good and faithful servant. May she rest in everlasting peace.

A beautiful soul by the name of Hilliary Patricia Dunn fondly known as Aunt Patsy to me has departed from this world and left our family with a void that is irreplaceable in our hearts. Aunt Patsy was the matriarch of our family and she exemplified the very essence of unconditional love, strength, courage, faith, and determination all rolled into one throughout her entire life. She has left us all with such a rich legacy that emulating her will be big shoes to fill. I have such warm and wonderful memories of Aunt Patsy that it difficult to accept that she is no longer with us physically, but her spirit will live on in all of us. Aunt Patsy was like a second mother to me as she provided for me in every sense of the word when I moved from Kingston Jamaica in 1978 to Rochester NY. She was instrumental in getting me enrolled in college to further my education, and provided the resources, emotional support, and encouraged me at all times to do my best at all times. Aunt Patsy showed me unconditional love at all times and showed me that working hard, persevering, paying attention to detail, and showing respect to others would take me a long way. Aunt Patsy’s fierce love for her family and her hospitality to all of her family members made her stand out and she became the beacon light on the hill for all of us. Her home was always open to anyone who needed a meal to eat, to rest or just to stop by to visit and talk. Her home was an oasis to many of our family members and as a result we have all tried to follow in her footsteps. Aunt Patsy was a strong and fearless woman and also a trailblazer in her own way. No was not a part of her vocabulary and she always found a way to find the solution to any problem be it big or small. She was a grandmother to my now adult son Phillip and he has very fond memories of how she has helped to shape his life. Aunt Patsy loved her children and her extended family and we all loved her back. Aunt Patsy was a sharp dresser and always took pride in what she did and how she made others feel. In her later years battling Alzheimer’s disease, she showed dignity and grace daily until the end. We will miss you Aunt Patsy and there will never be another one like you. RIP sweet angel and you will always be in my heart and with me. Love you always. Your niece Tania.❤️.

My Dearest Theresa,Yvette & Family, may the Grace of God, His love & peace hold you tightly as He wraps His arms around you during this time. I am so grateful for Aunt Patsy’s love throughout my childhood! You know you are truly blessed when you look back at your life & see that not only did you have your own mother covering you, teaching & wanting the best for you……..but your best friend’s mother wanting the same thing as if you were her child too. I will never forget what a blessing it was. She added so much to my life & I have & will forever hold her memory close to my heart. 🙏🏾 ❤️

Aunt Patsy was a formidable woman who exemplified leadership qualities through her strength of character and her great courage in the face of every obstacle that she encountered. She dug deep into her resevoir of faith to find the strength to confront and overcome the many challenges in life. Her faith in God, strength and courage made hèr an inspiration to all who knew and loved her, especially her immediate and extended family members. Concurrent with her strength and courage were her compassion, love and hospitality. She was always there for any family member who needed her help and took her role as matriarch very seriously. She created indelible memories that are forever printed in our hearts of times spent with her when she vacationed in Jamaica and drove us around the island so that we city kids could experience the joys of life in the country. And when we visited her in the USA, we were always struck by the fact that her home was always open to family members who would gather there every day to meet, talk, fellowship and eat a meal together. The miracle was that there was always food on the stove and in the pantry, and no one went away hungry! Her home was an oasis for every traveller, where there was rest and refreshing for weary souls. She has now entered her eternal rest and her youth and strength are renewed in the presence of her Lord and Savior. We will see each other again, Aunt Patsy!

Mother If I could give you diamonds for each tear you've cried for me, If I could give you sapphires for each truth you've helped me see, If I could give you rubies for the heartache that you've known, If I could give you pearls for the wisdom that you've shown, Then you'll have a treasure mother, that would mount up the skies, That would almost match the sparkle in your kind and loving eyes, But I have no pearls or diamonds, as I'm sure you're well aware, So, I'll give you gifts more precious, my devotion, love and care. Rest in peace my sweet. Love Yvette and Theresa
