Walter S. Seleski
Walter Seleski, Rochester, NY was called home at the age of 103 after a long and full life. He is reunited with his wife Anna Marie (Hasenauer) Seleski 38 years after her death.
At a young age Walter was admitted to the St Joseph’s orphanage, he resided there until the age of 15 when he was released into foster care. During his time in foster care, he met Anna Marie.
Though Walter attended East High school, he graduated from Webster High school in 1939 at the age of 19.
Walter was drafted into the Army at the age of 22. He served in England, France and Germany with the 80th chemical division, responsible for laying ground smoke to protect the troops.
A year after he was honorably discharged from the Army, he and Anna Marie were married. Though they resided in the city of Rochester for several years, they built their home in Henrietta, where he lived for 65 years.
Walter worked for Fannon Metal Industries where he was a sheet metal engineer. He and Anna Marie raised four children and were members of the Good Shepherd Parish.
Later in life, Walter enjoyed sitting in his yard visiting with many neighbors who would stop to see him. There would be many different topics he enjoyed but he would always come back to the books he was reading, mostly Louie L’Amore cowboy books.
Walter is survived by his children, Margie (Paul) Goodell, Stephen Seleski, Ada (Edward) Baxter, Judy (Leon) Kaester; grandchildren, Christopher (Katie) Crouch, David Crouch, Amanda Cantie Seleski, Alesha (Jake Drew) Seleski, Corey (Alex Zinter) Kaester and Sarah (Dean) Sherwood; great-granddaughter, Brie (Clay Johnston) Boxell; several nieces, nephews and in-laws.
